Audience Profile

Age
Our thriller will mainly target students of around the age of 15/16-25 years. This is because of a younger cast and contemporary issued covered within the film. As the thriller contains content such as identity theft, murder and a little violence it probably wouldn't be able to be viewed by anyone under the age of 15.
Gender
I think both genders would find our film appealing as we found out during our research questionnaire results and also we have included both male and female characters within our film to specifically appeal to both a male and female audience.
Similar film appeal
People that would be interested in watching our film would also enjoy watching Psycho as many of our ideas came from this film. Also films like Jackie Brown with the use of the femme-fatale. Some other ideas came from The Third Man so some of the audience members might be interested in this, especially if they were interested in obscure camera angles.
Occupation
Our audience are likely to be students of sixth form or college or uni.
Interests
The soundtrack is jazz music and quite dated so anyone who likes jazz music could be interested in our thriller. As our storyline is about theft and murder then audience members might have interests in crime tv programmes such as the bill. People who like older style films will likely to have an iterest in our thriller also as many of our ideas were based on older films, also as we havn't used major technology or any special effects.

My Questionnaire results

Here are my results to thriller questionnaires that were handed out in graph form. I chose to use pie charts as my type of graph as i think this is the easiest way to show data clearly and making it easier to see patterns and to analyse results.

This graph can easily show us that females of a young age (16 - 25), would prefer to watch a crime thriller over the others, with action and psychological in second and horror in last. This can give us a general idea of what time of thriller to create if our target audience were younger women. I don't think that this could be valid for all members of our target audience and more results would make the overall much more acurate.

For people of the same age, but of a different sex the results came out rather different. Males clearly favoured action thrillers over the others and no section of the results were crime thrillers. This could be tricky when making our thriller because 2 main groups that we would be targeting have different tastes in thrillers. Although the females didn't vote action as their favourite they did get reasonable results for action and psychological. Again, more results would increase accuracy of our findings.

This pie chart is clear on the winning percentage of elder males favourite thrillers out of the choices. Crime beat the other options but as the age group do not represent our target audience much i feel these do not affect our choices when planning the thriller. If we were clearer on the target audience before giving out all questionnaires then we could of gave them to younger people instead.

Again the age group used here do not match our main target audience, but you can see from the graph that crime and action have come in first place, so these two options seem to be rather popular. And even though we won't try to make our film to suit this audience, they can help with an overall look for more valid results to the general population.

The overall scores seem very close, but you can see that action and crime came in joint first, so the majority of people would like to see either of these types of thrillers, and as results are extremely close it seems our thriller would be watched whether it was any of these types. Results could of easily been made greater if we gave out more questionnaires to begin with and we offered more options to choose from.

Here is a graph from questionnaires aimed to help us choose our main character in our thriller. The chart clearly shows that females would prefer to see a male lead role instead of a female. This could be because of a sexual attraction or that males make thriller films seem more realistic.

This chart has a very similar outcome to the previous with that males would prefer to see a man as a lead role in a thriller over a female. These results can really help us with planning our thriller.

The overall outcome is inevitable that male lead roles won the majoirty vote.
